Party

Reverb10: “What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.” (Author: Shauna Reid)

Oh, this is sad. I’ve got nothing. I have actually avoided parties all year.

But Pentecost, my favorite Sunday of the year was awesome.

Beautifully Different

Reverb10: “Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful.” (Author: Karen Walrond)

I’ve been reflecting today on what makes women, especially, not want to brag on themselves. And this prompt makes me just not want to do that. I don’t even want to answer it.

Instead, I’ll tell you what I know about why I do the work I do. I like being tough. Cutting edge. Rough and tough. Just so you won’t know what a mushpot I am inside.

Community

#reverb10 prompt for today: “Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?” (Author: Cali Harris)

I guess I’m just lucky. I have the greatest church ever. After nearly 5 years with this community, I am struck every week by how thoughtful, loving, committed, and liberal this group is! They love with an easiness and a comfort that makes me really understand how being with God is easy and comfortable.

They make me understand Philipians 3:1-6 I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that the One who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Make

My #reverb10 prompt: “What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?” (Author: Gretchen Rubin)

The last thing I made was a red liturgical hanging for the church for Pentecost, which finally got finished about a month after Pentecost. I wish I as at church to take a photo of it, because it’s really beautiful. Inspired by this beautiful piece by Piecemaker’s Peace, it was a group effort (that really took 2 years).

Next week, I’ll post photos, because I’m really proud of it.

I finally

Let Go

December 5th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in church

The #reverb10 prompt today is, “Let Go. What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why?” (Author: Alice Bradley)

This year, I let go of very little. I have very little to let go of. For the past 5 years I have had the majority of my stuff in storage. So it’s boxes. I let all of my furniture go at the last move, since there wasn’t enough room to store it, and there was no point in just letting it collect dust for this many years.

So, instead, I added. I bought things- having been underemployed for a while, it was nice to get some new clothes, make up on some deferred maintenance on things. I worked on my car. I bought new tires. I got my transmission flushed. Stuff like that.

So letting go hasn’t been my thing in 2010. Well, unless you count expectations.
